OT Goals Lift Soccer On Sunday

Eastern Illinois women's soccer improved to 2-0 on the season as the Panthers picked up a 1-0 win in overtime against Missouri Valley Conference member Evansville. Kristin Germann collected a goal halfway through the first overtime period as EIU was awarded a penalty kick following a rough tackle by a Purple Aces defender in the goal box.

This season soccer has returned to the Golden Goal of overtime as the first goal scored in an OT period is now a game winner.

A couple hours later Brandon Loncar scored an overtime goal to lift the underclassmen to a win over the upperclassmen during EIU men's soccer scrimmage.

Sunday night marks First Night as campus life is now in back in full swing following all the students returning to EIU to begin classes on Monday. With that look for a possible football transfer announcement on Monday with the start of classes.

Only 13 days left until the season opener at Iowa. Get your tickets now if you don't have them. The deadline to purchase tickets is Noon on Wednesday. Previews of each position group will start tomorrow on the blog.
