The hay is in the barn or any other popular catch phrase you want to drop in describes Eastern Illinois football as the Panthers have completed four weeks of camp and now sit two days away from playing the No. 9 team in the nation.
Excitement barely describes the feeling for the Panthers team as they head into a game with nothing to lose. After all it took Iowa two blocked field goal attempts last season to win the opener over Northern Iowa, a team that finished about level in the polls with EIU last year but did not make the FCS playoffs.
EIU will head over to Kinnick Stadium tomorrow afternoon before going through its pregame routine and getting ready for the kick off at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The Big Ten Network will carry the game and it will be the local game on Mediacom and Consolidated in the Charleston area. It is the alternate Big Ten game if you own Dish or DirectTV.
In addition to football gearing up for the season - men's soccer will play in a tournament at Kentucky starting Friday night after playing three preseason exhibitions. Women's soccer continues with two matches on the road - they are 2-2-0 on the year. Volleyball opens its season on Friday in the Harvard tournament. Look for a report from "Beantown" on Sunday for the Panther Blog.
Tomorrow's post will be our experience in Iowa City. For those of you making the trip - enjoy it!!!
Finally just so you can realize that everything does make it to the internet. Here is Iowa offensive lineman Josh Koeppel getting hit by a truck earlier this week.
