Know Your Opponent - Southeast Missouri

Before we get into this week's volleyball know your opponent - let's get you up to date in the world of EIU athletics over the past couple of days.

First EIU women's volleyball picked up a conference win over Murray State on Tuesday to improve to 1-2 in the OVC. The Panthers hit the road to Austin Peay and Tennessee State this weekend.

Men's and women's golf continue their fall season action. The EIU men placed 7th at the DePaul Invite but junior David Lawrence who finished 7th overall was named the OVC Golfer of the Week. The women's golf team placed 3rd at the SIUE Tournament.

Now quickly to a couple of know your opponent facts.

1.) The SEMO coaching staff is comprising also entirely of Nebraska alumni. Head coach Tony Samuel was a member of Tom Osborne's first recruiting class and the Redhawks like to run the ball.

2.) The school is located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri which is nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River. It was founded in 1873.

3.) Famous alumni of the school include Rush Limbaugh (radio talk show host) and Cedric the Entertainer.

4.) The student newspaper the Capaha Arrow was firt published in 1911 and is one of the oldest college run newspapers in the country.

5.) Until January 2005, the athletic team nicknames were the "Indians" (men's teams) and "Otahkians" (women's teams).
